Camp Contact is devoted to providing a space for Contact Improvisation Dance & related forms at Burning Man and other regional events. We gather to offer classes and workshops within dance spaces that we erect, and to be a part of a temporary intentional community that values awareness and conscious intention while celebrating the dance. Our theme camp infrastructure includes a kitchen, showers, shade structures and other amenities. In addition to Contact Improv, workshops we've offered include other somatic and contact practices & topics such as Thai Massage, Acroyoga, energy work, eye-contact jams, Authentic Relating, Action Theatre & more.
Camp Contact is an experiential and experimental laboratory which seeks to ask the question “What is human connection?” Default culture has bred the message that connection is obtainable through objects and actions. We propose that connection is obtainable through connecting. But how is that done and, at its core, what is connection? How can I contact Thou?
We have no specific answers. But we love doing experiments. Most yield potent fruit from which each of us individually draws insight and strength.
