Wish list…
Here is a partial list of some of the stuff we need. Let us know if you have any of these things, if you know of anyone that has them and would be willing to make them available to this project, or if in some other way you have access to them.. Also let us know if there is something else that you think might want to be on this list, even if you don’t have it…
Some of these things we already have but could use more of. Some we don’t have and would have to buy. The less things we need to buy, the more slack we have with money for buying special or better things or giving more people a break who don’t have so much money.
We are doing this camp together, so we are asking for folks to take responsibility for making the camp happen and participate in finding and bringing what they can out to the playa. Please email burningcontact@gmail.com if you have any of these or are willing to help get them. For bigger items, there will be some transport from Nevada City and/or SF Bay Area.
This list will be updated every once in a while as we get closer…
The List
- large tent/dome structures (chill space, kitchen, etc)
- water barrels
- Use of a heavy duty pickup truck to go for water runs during the week
- catch basin for gray water from kitchen sink-75 gallons or so
- electricity supply (generator, solar panels, wind turbines)
- lumber for various projects
- pots and utensils for cooking (mainly industrial/restaurant size things, but also regular size things for lunch and breakfasts… a supply of bowls and spoons is also great for when people misplace theirs)
- card board boxes (the underflooring of our vinyl-billboard floors this year will be card board rather than old carpet… it will be easier to handle and easier to pack out. The more the merrier. there will be a bunch coming with the main camp load, but if you bring more, then we have more for common space, going under tents, etc.
- money — this is very useful. If you want to support financially improvements and repair on the domes and big tents or the building of nice shower/cooking facilities, you can send money in one of two ways… with Paypal, goto www.paypal.com and send money through there to burningcontact@gmail.com. The other way is to send a check to Darrell Duane, 3110 13th St NW, Washington, DC 20010-2408
- people to organize fundraisers!(jam, party, performance, whatever)… If you want to take this on or want to be involved in making it happen, let us know.
- non-electric space heaters (propane/kerosene) plus appropriate fuel
- propane cylinders for cooking!!
- propane stoves for kitchen (have two. could use more, especially if you have one of those really big burners for big pots)
- push brooms, mops, buckets for keeping the dance floors clean
- 1 additional refrigerator
- outdoor solar lawn/patio lights
- chairs, couches, pillows and soft things for chill space furniture
- ***storage space post burning man for domes and assorted goodies for the next year (this would be very useful!)*** For now we are looking at renting space for the year which will cost us $480+
- bicycles (you should bring your own for getting around and if you bring an extra, someone will be happy). could also use a bicycle trailer for the person who is doing the enter Camp Jam set-up in the morning (for toting around a sandwich board and mop/bucket of water..
- dry erase markers, preferably connected to a cord so that they don’t walk
- ***shade cloth/structures***
- light ropes for soft lighting of spaces
- folding tables
- shelving system for kitchen organizing
- lawn chairs/camp chairs
- massage tables, oil, sheets. We plan to set up a bodywork area internal to the camp
- leather gloves (for set up/break down)
- old sweat pants/t-shirts, for people who forget their clothes at home when they come to dance and wish they had some… this happens!)
help thinking about other things we might need or like…
Some of these items we have budget money for, however if people have them and can donate their use, we can put money into other things like building a better floor to dance on or upgrading our power set-up. Also, this list is just a starting place… write to us with other things to add to it and let us know if you have anything, even if we don’t yet realize that we want it.
